The curious name of "The Hidden Monkey" came from a previous owner of the business, who, after a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh saw a carved wooden monkey on board.
The monkey was a gift to the Queen from her visit to Copenhagen in 1957 and a game would be played by the Royal Family to find it when it frequently disappeared to a new hiding place. It became known as The Hidden Monkey!
The previous owner looking to change the business name from the "Tea Garden" chose the new name and this is how we've been known ever since.
